    About Me

    Sherry Fass is a NYS certified Dance Educator, PK-12, and certified in the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum. Sherry holds an MA in Teaching Dance in the Professions with a concentration in the American Ballet Theatre Pedagogy from New York University. She also holds a BS ED in Dance Education from Hofstra University, as well as a BA in Speech Pathology, with an emphasis in Behavior Analysis, from St. Joseph’s College.

     

    Sherry is a Dance Educator and Choreographer at I.S 227 Louis Armstrong Middle School. Sherry works closely with the DOE as an Arts Liaison for the Queens DOE Dance Educators, a mentor to DOE Dance Educators in the Curriculum Development and Support Program, an adjudicator for the Queens Borough Arts Festival, and a former Big Apple Fellow. Through her extensive work in the DOE and community building, Sherry has built partnerships with Paul Taylor Dance Company, Amy Marshall Dance Company, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ballet Hispanico, and many artists from Symphony Space. 

     

    Sherry specializes in Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap, and Smooth and Latin Ballroom, ages two through adult. Sherry has performed in competition settings, university theatre's, private venues, and most recently, Radio City Music Hall. She has taught in various types of environments, including but not limited to, universities, private dance studios, public schools, hospitals, residential programs, and home settings. 

    Sherry specializes in teaching children with disabilities through her extensive study in Applied Behavior Analysis and Discrete Trial Training while working at Developmental Disabilities Institute and studying at St. Joseph's College. Sherry’s experience is vast, ranging from teaching children with Autism, Down Syndrome, PDD, ODD, and other various disabilities, as well as Psychiatric disorders. 

     

    Sherry's love for this beautiful art form continues to inspire her and feed her passion. She is reflective in her own curriculum, knowledge, and abilities, and strives for improvement every day. Her personal philosophy, be better than I was yesterday, prompts her to reflect often on her teaching, be culturally responsive, inclusive, and grow with the current climate of our society. She hopes to continue to inspire the next generation of dancers.
